Recently described as ‘The Agency with Integrity’, we’re thrilled to welcome Appetite as sponsors of the Employee Engagement Programme category
Appetite will sponsor the Employee Engagement Programme category at the 2018 Caterer.com People Awards. Caterer.com Sales Director, Neil Pattison said, “This is wonderful news. We’re so happy that Appetite is joining us and sponsoring this category and this much sought after award.”
Nick Clover, CEO of Appetite 4 Recruitment said, “Employee engagement is one of the most important aspects of any hospitality business. Without great people there is no business and a real employee culture is absolutely crucial for the development and growth of individuals and teams which, in turn, enables growth of this amazing industry.
“The best companies have always provided the best cultures,” he continued. “You don’t grow a business, you grow people and people grow the business. You can’t do that without a people culture. And that doesn’t happen without genuine Employee Engagement.”
Nick Clover set up Appetite 4 Recruitment with relatively no experience in hospitality recruitment, but simply out of a passion for the industry. “It was me in a small back street office with my savings which would keep me going for three months,” he said. “I had a cracking first year working on my own and then started to bring in support with recruitment consultants.” Business was good, but the 2008 recession was tough which sent Appetite back to a starting point. But, as Nick explains, “With an amazing new recruit and junior administrator we started again in a very different market. I wasn’t about to lose Appetite that easily!”
Three years ago Nick met Mike Gardner and they set up Appetite 4 Work which is going from strength to strength, enabling Appetite to provide permanent and temporary staffing solutions to the industry.
Appetite provide Back and Front of House permanent and temporary staffing to hospitality employers from the floor right up to Director Level right across the industry, “From the Local Boozer to Michelin star establishments. From Independent Caterers to Stadiums,” says Nick.
Nick Clover, like anybody involved in hospitality recruitment understands the pressing issues that employers are facing right now. “People attraction is an issue that can’t be ignored as well as the changing dynamic of the workforce,” he said. “Attracting kids and young adults can be a problem and breaking the ‘get a proper job’ nonsense that the British class system gets so wrong can be combatted with positivity in the schools in my opinion.
“It’s always been challenging,” he continues, “but there are always opportunities and continual successful case studies. The current climate in the industry will be a big game changer and it’s giving new concepts a platform to get up and running.”
Nick and the team at Appetite are excited to be part of this year’s Caterer.com People Awards. It’s going to be a fabulous night, but Nick understands the importance of the event. “Recognising great work throughout the industry is essential and it gives a real benchmark to strive toward and to exceed. The quality of the judging panel says it all. From the industry, for the industry,” he said.
